About the Role
Reporting directly to the Vice President, Operations, the incumbent oversees and manages the daily operations of the manufacturing operation, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant production, warehousing, and distribution activities.
The incumbent leads operational execution, supports supervisors and frontline teams, drives continuous improvement, and ensures customer, quality, health and safety, and environmental expectations are consistently met. Direct Reports: five.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a member of the business leadership team, participates in defining and executing operational priorities, annual goals, and plans that support organizational objectives.
- In close partnership with Sales, Customer Service, Supply Chain, and Quality, executes the operational requirements for new packaging products, customer programs, and process changes.
- In partnership with Human Resources, builds strong succession planning on site, developing and strengthening the talent bench and driving engagement of employees.
- Provide day-to-day coaching, guidance, and support to direct manager-level reports responsible for daily site operations. Actively remove barriers, resolve cross-department challenges, and ensure managers have what they need to succeed.
- Build trust and accountability within the operations leadership team; set clear expectations, reinforce priorities, and hold regular check-ins to monitor progress and address gaps.
- Leads operational execution of equipment upgrades, process changes, layout improvements, and other site initiatives in partnership with maintenance, engineering, and project teams.
- Identifies and leads the execution of continuous improvement programs to maintain and improve competitiveness in the market.
- Monitors and analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) and takes corrective actions as needed
- Drives customer satisfaction through reliable packaging quality, production scheduling, service levels, logistics coordination, and on-time delivery performance.
- Builds strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, customers, and community partners to support effective operations and positive stakeholder relations.
- Ensures that all health and safety and environmental policies and procedures are adhered to and that daily activities are operating in accordance with all legislated regulations.
- Ensures operations comply with the organization’s safety policies and procedures. Continuously improves site conditions to reduce and prevent incidents. Ensures compliance with applicable workplace insurance and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains and develops knowledge to ensure packaging operations adhere to applicable compliance requirements, quality standards, customer specifications, and company policies and procedures.
- Monitors production efficiency, labour utilization, equipment performance, quality results, and schedule attainment to ensure the packaging operation is functioning optimally.
- Ensures completion of documentation required for health and safety records, quality checks, production reports, inventory records, maintenance follow-up, and other operational reporting.
- Minimizes and mitigates operational issues and seeks innovative ways to prevent production, quality, safety, or service disruptions. Notifies the VP immediately of any adverse conditions affecting operations.
- Reviews work, processes, and finished goods for compliance with quality, customer, regulatory, and operational requirements.

- Demonstrated ability to promote health and safety, environmental responsibility, quality, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to take responsibility to ensure safe working conditions and environmental compliance.
- Advanced levels of customer service, interpersonal and communication skills to promote and foster positive working relationships.
- Advanced computer software skills (i.e. MS 365 [Word, Excel, Project]) to produce documents, reports and schedules as required.
- Able to work with limited supervision and to take discretionary action as required
- Proficient communication skills, both oral and written, to disseminate information with clarity, in one-on-one or group situations, or over the telephone
- Professional manner, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with associates including senior management, contractors and subcontractors.

Education and Job Knowledge
- Minimum high school graduation, plus an additional two-year college diploma in operations management, manufacturing, supply chain, engineering technology, or a related discipline, or an equivalent level of hands-on experience and demonstrated competency in core areas.
- General familiarity with packaging, manufacturing, production scheduling, quality systems, inventory practices, and governing regulations, including Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Experience
- Greater than five years but less than or equal to 10 years in packaging, manufacturing, production, plant operations, or a related industrial environment.
Certificates, Licenses or Registration
- The incumbent must have a valid G Registration Driver’s Licence to travel to various work sites.
Salary
- $120K, 10% incentive, monthly car allowance
Working Conditions
- Incumbents are required to exert the following physical effort; however, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Travel is primarily to customer, vendor, and other operational locations, with occasional travel to Ontario required for training and other business needs. Flexibility to travel to Ontario periodically is expected.
- Work requires the use of office equipment such as computers, telephones and fax and photocopy machines up to 80% of the time. The incumbent must operate a motor vehicle.
- Typically, this position requires periods of sitting with frequent requirements to stand, walk through production and warehouse areas, inspect work areas, and move between office and operational environments. The incumbent may be required to kneel, reach, stoop, bend, stretch, and carry light to moderately heavy objects while on-site.
Working Environment
Work is sometimes performed in a comfortable office environment with minimal exposure to dust, dirt, fumes, heat, cold, and other sensory attributes.
However, there is moderate exposure to production and warehouse conditions when the incumbent is performing on-site visits, including equipment movement, packaging materials, dust, noise, temperature changes, and other operational conditions.
The level of noise in office areas is low to moderate and may escalate in production areas where equipment is operating.
The use of personal protective equipment may be required.
Mental Concentration
The incumbent would be exposed to situations which may cause moderate mental stress.
There are noticeable pressures from meeting deadlines, multitasking, supervising others or producing accurate work.
The stress levels felt would not be noticeably disruptive to the work, nor would the unpleasant reaction be strong or persistent.
