The Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of Ontario (RMTAO) is a member-driven, not-for-profit professional association for Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) in Ontario.
The RMTAO exists to advance the profession of massage therapy in Ontario.
The RMTAO advocates on behalf of the profession and provides products and services to RMT members to help them improve their knowledge, navigate the latest research and grow their practices.
About the Role (12-Month Contract)
The RMTAO is looking for an experienced individual who can step in to manage all of the operations of the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of Ontario.
The Director of Operations will take the lead on operational planning for the organization, including oversight, guidance, leadership and management of all staff.
The duties of the Director of Operations are varied and include administrative and financial management and ensuring that overall organizational planning is successful.
This also includes providing feedback and support to the Executive Director on the big picture initiatives undertaken by the organization.
This role is perfect for an experienced association professional looking for a new challenge in a varied role as part of a close-knit team.
The ideal candidate would be highly organized and a strong planner with experience in managing staff and would like to contribute to the planning and future direction of the massage therapy profession in a multi-faceted and fast-paced role.
Please note this is a 12-month contract role.
Primary Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer (ED & CEO), the Director of Operations will lead all internal operations and will have the following responsibilities:
- Working in partnership with the ED & CEO, develop a detailed, focused and achievable operating plan and oversee its successful implementation
- Provide leadership, oversight and administrative direction to all staff
- Oversee all aspects of the work of the association, including education, member recruitment and retention, communications, programs and advocacy initiatives
- Develop and implement day-to-day processes to help complete organizational goals
- Working with the Association Management System vendor to test issues and upgrades, verify changes and make decisions relating to timelines and related budgets.
- Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for the performance of the organization
- Lead the performance evaluation process for the staff that measures and evaluates progress against goals for the organization
- Responsible for financial reporting, adjustments and tracking, including verifying sales and receivables and payment adjustments as needed
- Prepare bills, invoices and bank deposits
- Regularly review and update operating policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of experience in a manager or director-level role in a professional association or similar organization.
- Experience in staff oversight and management
- Strong background in operational and financial planning
- Highly organized, methodical, self-motivated and independent
- Ability to effectively problem solve confidently and communicate solutions
- Ability to create structure to support all organizational tasks and use that structure to monitor successes
- Experience in assisting with Board of Directors’ support and management
- Strong time-management skills and experience in keeping track of diverse organizational priorities with competing deadlines.
