ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Manager of Human Resources, you will play a key leadership role in shaping and advancing the HR function across the organization.
You will manage a team of HR professionals while overseeing HR strategy, employee relations, talent management, and organizational development across office and field-based teams.
Reporting to the President, you will drive HR initiatives that support business objectives, foster a positive workplace culture, and ensure alignment with strategic and operational goals.
This role is designed for a leader with strong generalist experience, a strategic mindset, and a focus on continuous improvement.
You will be responsible for driving HR programs that promote growth, engagement, and operational success, while ensuring that HR practices are aligned with legal, safety, and compliance requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
HR Strategy and Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of HR professionals, ensuring effective alignment with organizational goals and fostering a collaborative, high-performance HR culture.
- Serve as a strategic HR partner to senior leadership, providing guidance on talent management, organizational development, and employee relations.
- Drive HR initiatives that support business growth, employee engagement, and retention.
Employee Relations and Organizational Culture
- Lead employee relations efforts, addressing complex or sensitive issues fairly and timely.
- Cultivate a positive organizational culture by promoting employee engagement, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Work closely with leadership to ensure HR policies and practices align with the company’s core values and operational needs.
HR Operations and Compliance
- Oversee the administration of HR operations, including performance management, talent acquisition, and benefits programs.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements and industry standards, particularly in multi-jurisdictional environments.
- Support safety initiatives and work closely with safety teams to ensure that HR practices align with workplace safety programs.
Unionized Workforce
- Provide guidance on managing unionized employees, ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements and company policies.
- While not involved in direct negotiations, support HR and management teams in managing union relationships and addressing grievances.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- 5-8 years of experience in HR leadership with a proven ability to manage HR for office and field-based teams.
- Demonstrated success in managing HR teams and driving HR initiatives that align with business goals.
- Experience in a unionized environment is preferred, though direct involvement in negotiations is not required.
- Familiarity with health and safety is an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong leadership and team development skills with the ability to inspire and drive performance.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
- Strategic and analytical thinker, with the ability to translate business needs into effective HR strategies.
- Results-driven with a sense of urgency and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, growing organization.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Education:
- A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications in HR are a plus but not required.
