The Opportunity
As the Human Resource Director, you will play a key leadership role in shaping and advancing the HR function across the organization.
You will manage a team of HR professionals while overseeing workforce planning, recruitment, employee relations, programs and policies, learning and development, culture, and organizational effectiveness at our North American locations.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), you will drive HR initiatives that support business objectives, foster a positive workplace culture, and ensure alignment with strategic and operational goals.
This role is designed for a leader with strong generalist experience, a strategic mindset, and a focus on continuous improvement.
You will be responsible for driving HR programs that promote growth, engagement, and operational success, while ensuring that HR practices are aligned with legal, safety, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
HR Strategy and Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of HR professionals, ensuring effective alignment with organizational goals and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Be a strategic HR partner to leadership, providing guidance on talent management, organizational development, and employee relations.
- Drive HR initiatives that support business growth, employee engagement, and growth.
Employee Relations and Organizational Culture
- Be a trusted advisor to leadership on employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and performance management.
- Cultivate a positive organizational culture by promoting employee engagement and the Code of Conduct.
- Work closely with leadership to ensure HR policies and practices align with the company’s core values and operational needs.
HR Operations and Compliance
- Oversee HR operations, including talent acquisition, payroll, and benefits administration.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Support safety initiatives and work closely with the safety team to ensure that HR practices align with workplace safety programs.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or related field. HR certification and/or designation is preferred. A combination of education and equivalent experience may be considered.
- 10+ years of experience in HR leadership in North America.
- Demonstrated success in managing HR teams and driving HR initiatives that align with business goals.
- Strong leadership and team development skills with the ability to inspire and drive performance.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and experience with labour relations.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
- Strategic and analytical thinker, with the ability to translate business needs into effective HR strategies.
- Results-driven with a sense of urgency and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, growing organization.
- Operations experience is an asset.
